Planning downtime when you come home from a trip helps with these two things! 🙌

Hey Reader!

I hope you’re having a wonderful day! I’m back in Utah, getting settled and figuring out wtf this new season of life is going to look like.

That means I’m moving a little slower because I want to be intentional with how I move forward in both life and business.

For the rest of this year, you’ll be getting the Indie Travel Dispatch every other week instead of weekly.

Thanks in advance for understanding! In the meantime, you can browse the blog or start the travel planning course! (Use the EMAIL15 code for a discount.)

Do you give yourself time and space to re-enter everyday life after a trip? 🤔

It definitely takes a minute to adjust, which is what we’re going to chat about today.

I find this topic often overlooked in conversations about travel. We focus so much on planning and living the experience, but rarely talk about the process of coming home.

Giving ourselves time to unwind, reflect, and relax after traveling can help us integrate all we’ve gained from the experience! 💯

When planning my Toronto trip, I chose a Thursday evening return flight so I would have the weekend to spend with my love and settle back into our home.

This also gave me time to ponder what I learned from the experience and how those insights might be useful as I move forward.

Although integrating new information doesn’t happen overnight, making time to process the experience is super helpful! If you don’t already build in downtime when you get home, I highly recommend it.

Coming home is also a great time to introduce changes you’ve been wanting to make, like exploring an interest or starting a new practice. 🙌

Traveling breaks us out of our routines, giving us an opportunity to create new ones or adjust current ones when we return.

Although it’s easy to slip back into old patterns when we get home, the disruption of travel gives us a break from them and can help us reset.

Then we can intentionally choose which habits and routines we want to incorporate as we step back into our lives at home.

Do you have any tips or practices that help you settle back into your everyday life?

I’d love to know! Hit reply and tell me what works for you.

There are a few ways I do this for myself. Is this something you want to hear more about?

The holidays are just around the corner, which means it’s nearly time to start thinking about 2023 travels!

If you want to up your travel planning game, don’t forget about the How to Plan Your Own Unique & Affordable International Trips course. You can still use the EMAIL15 code to claim your 15% discount. 😊

Hey Reader! It’s been one hell of a hot minute since we’ve connected! When I decided to stop writing the Indie Travel Dispatch, I truly didn’t imagine that it would be nearly a year before I’d be back. 🤯 I have no desire to rehash the chaos of 2023, so let’s just say it was a wild ride -- some of the hardest moments of my life mixed with some of the most incredible ones too. Now that the dust has (mostly) settled, I finally have space to think about what comes next. While travel will always...

Hey Reader! It’s the last day of February (my least favorite month), and I’m celebrating by getting ready to welcome Spring. This time of year always brings big changes in my world and this one is no exception. There’s a lot to share with you in this email, so it’s a bit longer than usual. I hope you’ll stick with me. Truth: Life is one grand exercise in letting go. Learning to let go starts when we’re small. Friends move away, our teachers change from year to year and, eventually, we have...

Hey Reader! Here we are. A new year and it’s time for new adventures! Are you ready to explore more this year? Join me on this adventure! 🧭 At the end of 2021, I knew life was going to be wild and that my travels were going to be changing. New experiences and exploration are essential for me, like air or water, so I set the intention to have 100 new experiences over the course of 2022. There were no hard and fast rules, it simply had to give me that little jolt of, “Ooh, this is new and...
